History: |
Today the San Régis celebrates charm, luxury and most of all intimacy. But in order to fully understand the hotel's unique ambience, you would have to go back in time, back to 1857, the year the Suez Canal was inaugurated and, less well known, the year monsieur Edmon Petit ordered the construction of his own townhouse. |
Still in 1857 the neighbourhood bore a high resemblance with the fashionable district it is today, a privileged location, at the crossroads of fashion, business and entertainment. During the fifties the hotel became a second home to major personalities of the Haute Couture milieu as well as movie stars from around the world. |
The property attracted guests such as Lauren Bacall, Romy Schneider, Gene Kelly, Jacqueline Bisset, Candice Bergen and Louis Malle to name a few. At the beginning of the 80's, Monsieur Elie Georges took an instant liking to San Régis' unique character and slightly outdated ambience and decided to become the new owner.
Thus began the Hotel's Renaissance. In 1984 the hotel was entirely refurbished. 30 Million FF were put into renovations and more than 2 million FF into the restoration of antique furniture. This initial refurbishment set the stage for further improvement, with a special attention to detail and day-to-day embellishment in the name of luxury and elegance.
Together with his two brothers, Joseph and Maurice, Elie Georges developed his personal vision of what a hotel should be: preserving the time-honoured tradition of hospitality in keeping with the highly personalised atmosphere of an elegant family home, a distinguished address people enjoy returning again and again. Day by day the San Régis keeps its promise to attain the highest standards in quality service, maintaining both a high level of comfort and a decoration of rare sophistication. And as a result, the hotel has risen to its new position among the world's most renowned luxury hotels. |
