Facilities within the Hotel

An impression of calm and quiet greets you as soon as you go through the door. Lanterns on the walls remind you that, once, this was the passage way for carriages and horse drawn cabs to set down the master of the house or his guests before continuing, through our garden, to the stables. On the left, the new archway is in the place of the original doorway to the mansion. Three steps up and you are at home, in a private house atmosphere with a welcoming fire in the hearth.

Here stands the Front Desk where
the Concierge and his staff will look after you do every possible thing to ensure that your stay with us is unforgettable and that for you, there cannot be an other address in Paris than the Lancaster. The reception area and the rooms leading off are decorated in a resolutely modern style, integrating some chosen pieces from a more classic era. The Salon Berri with its wall hangings of aniseed damask has kept its superb furniture and restful atmosphere.

The fine woven marron glacé linen chosen for the Salon Fontenoy, makes a remarkable background to the huge painting of "The Battle of Fontenoy", restored to perfection as has been the Lancaster's famous collection of paintings. The Salon Fontenoy is fitted for visio-conferences and this technological equipment can be installed at your request.

The Grand Salon looks on to the garden. The glass roof is still there,
comfortable armchairs and sofas have been added and you will find a selection of papers and magazines. In the evening, new lighting picks out the two paintings by Ziem and the fine flower arrangements.

The restaurant has been a subject for much thought and has given birth to the Café-bar. The object is to offer to our Guests a place that fits in with the new atmosphere of the Lancaster, a private house, both intimate and convivial for
a relaxed and informal lunch or for those evenings when one really loves to stay at home.

Like the rest of the hotel, this place is reserved for our residents and their guests. At its entrance, you will find
the bar-library where a wide selection of drinks and liqueurs are side by side with a no less wide selection of books on art, cinema, architecture, gardening, fashion or the history of Paris. Pick up a book and take a seat facing the delightful garden. The atmosphere is that of a private club, and like the Grand Salon, resolutely contemporary, also warm and welcoming.

And as to the table setting, only the best will do, the silverware is by Ercuis and the china is signed Raynaud. The menu offers a cuisine which, while refined, is also simple, light, as one would like it to be at home.

And if - at home - you wanted something special, for an occasion, or on a whim, ask to see the Chef and choose the menu with him. You won't be limited by a "carte" and your meal will be prepared for you providing that you order it the day before, and you may choose to be served either in your room, your suite, or in a private dining-room, or in the Café-bar or the Garden.

Finally,
a health club with sauna and a view of the roofs of Paris and Montmartre has opened on the 8th floor. The Salon Fontenoy is fitted for visio-conferences and this technological equipment can be installed at your request.

Today, the Lancaster is the obvious address for those who seek luxury and good taste, but also modernity, not forgetting the particular qualities of this guest house, its charm and discretion and efficient personal service.
