The Hotel Regina is located in the heart of Paris, in front of the Louvre and the Tuileries Garden, close to the Opéra with its Department Stores, but also near the major shops from the rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré and from the place Vendôme jewellery shops. The hotel is steeped in a history of traditional, family run deluxe properties. It has also preserved its warm, typically French welcome, synonymous with Paris. The building which today is the Regina dates back to the Second Empire and was built on the site of the Royal riding school stables of the Palais du Louvre. Opened in 1898 for the Exposition Universelle, its founder, Léonard Tauber, displayed a particularly profound artistic style combined with every conceivable comfort. These solid foundations allowed the Regina to adhere to the demands of the various market segments and, on the eve of the new Millennium, remain one of the jewels of the Parisian hotels. |
The building combines three distinct styles, forming an elegant perspective: the arcades, typical characteristics of the rue de Rivoli, the sober facade adorned with rows of balconies, an imperial style roof. The interior was designed and decorated by some of the most renowned artists of the period and, today, master craftsmen still work regularly. The hotel's President, Françoise Baverez, cells upon these craftsmen to respect these standards, whether for renovating or creating. The Regina also has at hand a specialised cabinet-maker to ensure the upkeep of all the wooden panelling in the hotel as well as the period pieces of furniture. Between the two World Wars, the Regina was considered to be the most renowned Parisian hotel by both French and overseas clientele. During the major crisis between 1929 and 1932, part of the building was taken over by the French government. The Regina was transformed from a 240 bed roomed property to what it is today, a hotel with 120 bedrooms and suites. Its Majestic lobby still echoes its bygone days. Requisitioned in 1939, it sheltered, in particular, the Polish government exiled in Paris at that time, before being returned to its owners in 1945. Since then, the Regina has continued to welcome its clientele, whether for business or pleasure, in its spacious and comfortable bedrooms and suites. The Regina, proud of its history, celebrated its 100 years anniversary in December 1998. But far from being a centenary hotel, the Regina is looking forward to entering the fourth millennium. |
The Hotel offers in an ideal location to discover Paris. In effect, its doors face the Musée de la Mode which is situated in one of the wings of the Louvre, the Marsan pavillon and close to the main entrance of the 'Grand Louvre' Museum. The Orsay Museum may be visited by crossing the Pont Royal opposite the hotel, a stroll in the Tuileries Garden would lead to the Orangerie or on the other side of the hotel, the Palais Royal and the Comédie Française can be located. The Regina is also at the centre of theatre-land and where the famous designer label boutiques are situated; so, the Hotel offers an opportunity to discover a second facet of the Capital_.the luxury of Paris. Close to the Opéra centre, where the offices of many important companies are located, the Regina is perfect for the business traveller. There is also easy access to La Défense, where the head offices major corporations are situated. The Regina is completing its metamorphosis to the point of progress in the services offered to its clients. Work on renovation and refurbishment was completed without closing the Hotel down. All modern technology was adapted, but the Hotel's charm and personality were maintained. More than just an hotel, the Regina is a convivial meeting place, be it for a business lunch or a place to meet with friends prior to visiting a museum or an exhibition, to take a cocktail in the bar after work or before diner around the magnificent chimney of the Lounge Club, the Hotel's restaurant, where Chef Hervé Riebbels prepares an outstanding cuisine. |
The restaurant is open 7 days a week from noon to 10.p.m. non-stop. The restaurant has been renovated in an Art Nouveau style and benefits from two distinct advantages: - A Majorelle style chimney crackles into life during the winter months and radiates warmth throughout the restaurant, where romantic dinners or meals with friends can be enjoyed. - In the interior garden court of the Hotel, far from the busy city life, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed amongst lush vegetation to the sound of birds. The Chef Hervé Riebbels offers a stunningly inventive seasonal a la carte menu, which is changed three times a year, according to market availability. The Chef takes pride in preparing an innovative cuisine and creating new gastronomic sensations and proposes a business menu and "a la carte" dishes. |
This charming venue is on the rue de Rivoli and benefits from its own entrance under the arcades, so its clientele does not have to use the main Hotel entrance and walk through the Bar Anglais. The Bar Anglais, appreciated for its warm polished oak and its settees and armchairs covered with red garnet velour, offers different services to its patrons. A quick lunch can be served; there is a bar menu or a dish of the day proposed by the Chef. From opening time at 10.00 am., a wide range of aperitifs and refreshing beverages are suggested. The Hotel Regina has over 500m² of space that can be used to alternate work time and relaxation. Each room is soundproof, air-conditioned and adapted to meet your needs. It is a prestigious address and refined site...a perfect place to launch a product or hold a press conference, and with customised service.
